General

AxisVM provides a leading edge Visual Modeling user interface with multi-window model creation and display. Each graphics window has its independent settings. During any command it is possible to switch to the graphics window that shows the best view of the model or results of your action.
bulletMulti-step undo/redo commands available.
bulletGraphic editing of the model in any view including the perspective view.
bulletPowerful selection tools. You can add or remove entities from the current selection set, or restore the previous selection. Filtered selection available.
bulletComplete set of Zoom in/out, fit to page, pan, view undo/redo commands.
bulletView changes at the click of the mouse. Allows user defined perspective views.
bulletWorking on parts allows easy editing of most complex 3D geometries. Includes advanced part management.
bulletSection lines for surface element results display.
bulletRendered display for better model check.
bulletSearch for entities by type and index.
bulletDisplay settings for the most appropriate model display. Configure symbol and labeling display for each finite element.
bulletConfigurable 3D grid and mouse step.
bulletPre-loaded steel cross-section libraries loaded with most of the available European and U.S. shapes. Allows creation of custom libraries.
bulletIntegrated fully graphical cross-section editor for complex shapes. All cross-sectional properties are automatically calculated based on the graphical input of the section's shape.
bulletSI and US system of units for international use. Allows the use of mixed unit systems.
bulletYou can select your preferences of colors, fonts, report language, etc.
bullet(New) Property Editor: Selected node, truss, beam, rib, surface or domain elements, supports and point loads can be edited and changes made to the element type, material, cross-section, Local Orientation and Z Reference, support stiffness, load value etc.

bullet(New) User defined working planes allow simplification of complex 3D modeling
bulletWire frame modeling
bullet (New) Smart Pallets allow the user to pick any element and a new icon appears providing for line to arc, art start/end, element split and radius change defintion.
bullet (New) Special section lines can be defined that display the average result value and the sum on the section line for all result components

.

bulletToolbars including icon menus can be positioned on the screen in any area, selected on a one-time basis or set to appear until no longer needed.

bulletRendered display for better model check, including thin-walled cross-sections and smooth rendering of curved or bent profiles.

.

(New) Thin profiles and parametric cross-section shapes can be defined, saved and used in any model.

Connectivity

Integrate AxisVM in your existing working CAD environment instantly. You can easily transfer data to popular CAD software by using the import/export commands.
bulletBi-directional AutoCAD® geometry exchange (via DXF format file). The AxisVM DXF import system includes 2D, 3D and 3D with layers that can be selected or grouped. DXF files are supported by most of the CAD products.
bulletInterfaces to XSteel®, Bocad®, and ProSteel® (New) detailing software for steel structures
bulletInterfaces to ArchiCAD®, architectural software. The AxisVM GUI works like an engineering template for the ArchiCAD® GUI of Graphisoft.
bullet(New) IFC 2.0 and 2.x import for most major CAD software applications

bulletStereo lithography (STL) import is included
bulletASCII format import/export in model tables is included
bulletDifferent models can be imported and merged to define a new structure or to modify parts

Geometry Editor

Use the most powerful icon driven CAD commands to quickly build your model geometry.

bulletFast and easy to use 3D geometry generation commands (by translation, rotation, mirror, scale…with multiple copy or move). Zoom-in/out, pan and fit to page are included. Icons help you though the generation processes, in conjunction with context-sensitive help.
bulletContext sensitive cursor, and powerful selection tools lets you quickly perform commands on selection sets. Automatic model geometry check available.
bullet3D grid and 3D cursor positioning with adjustable accuracy. Mouse cursor movement can be restricted relative to the current grid settings. Interactive cursor coordinate window allows definition of various constrains for parallel, perpendicular, and other specific line drawing.
bulletOrthogonal, cylindrical and spherical coordinate systems
bulletInteractive background layer for fast and accurate model drawing. You can place here drawings imported from other systems.
bulletGeometry import/export from/to most popular CAD software (via DXF)
bulletFast, rendered, shaded OpenGL based visualization of your model
Meshing

bulletGlobal/local automatic mesh generation available on a macro-element mesh

bulletAutomatic mesh generation over domains. Users can choose automatic or user defined mapped meshing.

bullet(New) Mesh generation with equivalent (average) size elements
bullet(New) Mesh generation with variable element sizes depending on geometry complexity.  The program stores the mesh parameters for all regions.

bullet(New) Arc in the geometry editor. Drawing arcs. The program handles domains with arc edges. If the mesh is refined, the new mesh will follow the arc. - Arced and variable cross-section ribs and beams.

bulletInteractive background layer for fast and accurate model drawing. You can place here drawings imported from other systems. New:  The user can import a picture image (jpg/bit/ tif) as the background of the screen, to allow comparisons of before and after, and visualization of proposed changes.
